Morecambe & District MCC was established in June 1973. Originally there were three rallies organised by the club, The Ever Loved Illuminations Rally, which was named after the Morecambe Illuminations, the Clipper Rally, which was based around the local maritime history, and The Dog Digger Rally, obviously named after Newcastle Brown. There was also the locally infamous pet food run.
The club has donated to various charities over the years and was the first to frighten the village of Silverdale with an event held at Gibraltar Farm. Rallies have also been held at The Punch Bowl Hotel in Brough, the field on Oxcliffe Road across from Regency Caravan Park in Morecambe, The Moor Hospital, Clawthorpe Hall in Burton in Kendal, and The New Hollies at Garstang.
The club has met at several different locations over the years. It started out at the George Hotel in Torrisholme and has moved to various sites, namely The York Hotel, The Ring o'Bells, The Sun Hotel, The Priory, The Bull Hote, ,and The Three Mariners, before returning to The George hotel early in 2009.
The club has seen many different members come and go, and by the end of December 2008 there were just 8 members remaining. The decision was made early 2009 to move the club meeting place in an attempt to resurrect MAD MCC from the ashes and we are back! Bigger, better and MADder than ever.
Keep in touch we have lots going on.
